TO: Sony Pictures Entertainment, Columbia Pictures and the Rights Holders of Ghostbusters 3 (Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ivan Reitman)

For years fans have waited for a sequel to the Ghostbusters movie franchise. Despite earnest attempts by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis et al., the project has languished in development hell, hobbled by the complexity of a five-way rights situation (as held by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ivan Reitman, and Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Entertainment).

With this in mind, writer and ardent fan Boyan Blocka took it upon himself to write a speculative (fan fiction) screenplay that could, at least for himself, satisfy the need for a proper sequel … one at its heart, honouring the acting and comedic talents of the original cast.

Developed over four years (two years writing and polishing), Boyan’s fan fiction screenplay has garnered industry recognition, solid coverage and representation. The only problem is …

… he can’t get it read by the powers that be (ie. the rights stakeholders).

Despite Boyan’s open public acknowledgement of no chain of title (ownership) to the Ghostbusters franchise and his representation (legal and literary) having sought every normal channel and protocol to move Boyan’s material forward – to this day Boyan …

… still can’t get it read.

Now with Dan Aykroyd’s screenplay committed to the Atari videogame, and a new cadre of writers moving towards an early raw first draft (expected to be submitted for sign off July or August 2009), Boyan and the undersigned would like to inform/remind the powers that be of Boyan’s completed and polished screenplay and his/our strong desire to just …

… get it read.

A devoted fan of the Ghostbusters franchise, Boyan has proven his commitment to the Ghostbusters legacy through his contribution and volunteered time, and as such – we feel that he at least deserves a proper read – after which he will be satisfied regardless of outcome.

As fans of the Ghostbusters franchise and in view of the potentially tenuous five-way rights situation that might dismount yet another Ghostbusters project – we implore you to at least keep your options open.
